BO7 Weapon Tuning: Retune Your Cronus Zen Script
The October 15 weapon pass changed view kick on nine BO7 weapons. Here is which anti-recoil values to move, in which direction, and how to confirm the change landed.
Your anti-recoil was dialed in last week. Then you dropped into a match after the October 15 update and your TR51 Para started pulling under the target while your VMP sprayed wider than it used to.
Nothing on your Zen broke. Treyarch ran a weapon balancing pass that touched view kick, gun kick and fire rate across more than twenty weapons, and your values were tuned against the old numbers.
What changed in the October 15 BO7 weapon tuning update?
The short version: if a weapon got less view kick, your old anti-recoil value now overpulls and your shots land low. If it got more view kick, your value under-compensates and the muzzle climbs away from you.
That is the whole retune in one sentence, and it tells you which weapons to touch and in which direction. Here is the split for the weapons where recoil behavior actually moved, accurate as of October 16, 2026.
| Weapon | Kick change | Do this to your value |
|---|---|---|
| DS20 Mirage | Less view kick | Lower it |
| VST | Less view kick and gun kick | Lower it |
| Ryden 45K | Less view kick and gun kick | Lower it |
| XM325 | Less view kick, less deviation | Lower it |
| KRS 7.62 | Less view kick | Lower it |
| VMP | More view kick and deviation | Raise it |
| Mammoth | Slightly more view kick | Raise it slightly |
| M34 Novaline | More view kick | Raise it |
| M34 Novaline Garand Kit | More gun kick and view kick | Raise it |
Those nine are where a vertical value is genuinely wrong now. Everything else in the patch moved damage, range or handling, which is a different problem.

Which Cronus Zen anti-recoil values should you retune first?
Start with whatever is in your loadout right now, not the full list. Most players run two or three guns seriously, and retuning weapons you never touch is wasted time.
Work in small steps. Move a value by two or three points, fire a full magazine at a wall from about thirty meters, then look at where the group sits relative to your aim point.
A group that drifts below the point of aim means the compensation is too strong. If that is where you end up on most of your guns, our walkthrough on fixing anti-recoil overpull has the fuller diagnosis.
The TR51 Para needs a different fix
The Para did not get a kick change, it got a fire rate cut from 625 to 588 RPM. Its max damage also dropped from 43 to 40, which removed the close-range two-shot headshot.
Fire rate still matters for your values, because a slower cadence spreads the same recoil pattern over a longer window. A value tuned at 625 RPM applies more correction per unit of climb at 588, so nudge it down rather than leaving it alone.
Shotgun and rapid-fire timings moved too
This is the change most people will miss. The shotguns all got slower handling, and the M10 Breacher's Argus Lever rechamber time went from 450ms to 500ms.
If you have a rapid-fire or burst macro timed to the old 450ms rechamber, it now sends the second input before the weapon is ready. Add 50ms and test again.
Sprint-to-fire and ADS times also went up across the SG-12, M10 Breacher, Echo 12 and Akita. Any macro that chains a slide or dive straight to a shot needs its delay pushed out by roughly the same amount the patch added.
Which patch changes should you leave alone?
Plenty of this update looks relevant and is not. Range and damage edits change where a gun wins, not how it climbs, and chasing them with anti-recoil only makes your aim worse.
- Peacekeeper Mk1: headshot multiplier up from 1.25x to 1.34x, with a small damage cut at medium range. No recoil change.
- Warden 308: lost its second medium damage range, so minimum damage now starts past 41.9m instead of 57.2m. That is a positioning problem.
- MPC-25, Dravec 45, REV-46: damage range reshuffles only.
- Gremlin: faster movement and better reserve ammo. Nothing to retune.
- Roc 20mm: more damage against Scorestreaks.
The VMP is the one genuine trap here. It got both a big range cut, from 20.3m down to 13.5m, and more view kick, so it needs a value change and a change in how you play it.
How do you verify a Cronus Zen retune instead of guessing?
Firing at a wall tells you the result. The Device Monitor tells you why, and it is the fastest way to confirm your script is doing what you think it is.
Hook the Zen up to your PC with a mini-USB cable in the PROG port, then open the Device Monitor from Zen Studio. It shows your controller's raw input on one side and what the Zen is actually sending to the console on the other, live.
Click the right stick Y field and the plot area will graph it over time, so you can watch the downward correction your script applies on a sustained burst. You can plot up to four fields at once and freeze the graph to inspect a single trigger pull.
Two readouts are worth a glance while you are in there. Keep an eye on CPU Load, which should sit under 80 percent, and check that Active Slot shows the script you think you loaded rather than a stale one. Full details are in the official Cronus Device Monitor documentation.
If you would rather not start from zero, you can compare retuned BO7 values with other players in the ScarZens Discord, where people post what is working for them within hours of a patch like this one.
Does Laser Elite handle this for you?
This is the fair question, and the honest answer is that it narrows the work rather than erasing it. Laser Elite ships with per-weapon anti-recoil profiles already mapped across every BO7 weapon, plus adjustable values so you can nudge a single gun without rebuilding the rest.
On PS5 controllers it detects the equipped weapon automatically and applies the matching profile, so a patch like this means editing one profile instead of switching manually mid-match. On Xbox you pick the weapon from a manual selector. It runs $49.99 at time of writing, down from $58.99, and the product page shows 4.9 out of 5 from 625 reviews.
The listing also states that free updates are included for the life of the purchase, with a Modern Warfare 4 update planned at no extra cost ahead of that game's October 23, 2026 launch. What about Warzone?
Warzone got a trimmed version of the same pass, and the kick changes carried over almost exactly. The DS20 Mirage, Ryden 45K, XM325 and KRS 7.62 all got the same reductions, while the VMP and Mammoth picked up the same increases.
The practical difference is that Warzone's longer engagement distances make an overpulling value much more obvious. A correction that feels fine in a six-man lobby will drag your tracking off a target at sixty meters.
Keep separate values for the two modes if your setup allows it. Our breakdown of the Season 6 weapon retune covers why a single shared profile tends to underperform in both.
Rust Console players hit the same wall every wipe cycle, which is why Scar-Rust leans on plug-and-play anti-recoil across all weapons, also $49.99 at time of writing. You can see the full set on the Cronus Zen scripts collection.
FAQ
How much should I change my anti-recoil value after a patch like this?
Two to three points at a time, then test. Patch-level kick changes are usually small, and jumping by ten points turns an under-corrected gun into an over-corrected one. Weapons described as having slightly more or less kick, like the Mammoth, often need a single point.
Why does my value feel wrong on only one weapon?
Because the October 15 pass was per weapon, not global. Nine weapons had recoil behavior changed and the rest were left alone, so a loadout where one gun suddenly feels off is exactly what you should expect.
Do I need to reflash my script to change a value?
No. Adjustable values are changed in the script's own configuration, not by rebuilding it, which is the point of a per-weapon setup. Verify the change landed by watching the stick output in the Device Monitor rather than trusting the menu.
Will these values still work when Modern Warfare 4 arrives?
Treat them as BO7 and Warzone values only. MW4 ships October 23, 2026 as a separate title with its own weapon tuning, so expect to build fresh profiles rather than carry these across.
My group is still low after lowering the value. What now?
Check that you are testing the slot you edited, since a stale Active Slot is the usual culprit. After that, look at your deadzone and sensitivity, because a correction that looks like overpull is sometimes the stick never returning to center.
