What changed with dunking in NBA 2K27?

Per 2K's gameplay breakdown, every dunk attempt is now metered. The meter evaluates the defender's position from the moment you leave the floor to the moment you finish, so the same dunk animation can have a comfortable window on an open lane and a tight one against a rotating big.

That sits alongside the shooting rework. Timing is now mandatory for Rhythm Shooting, Tempo sizes your Timing window, and free throws use Rhythm Shooting too. 2K27 has moved a lot of outcomes onto release timing, and dunks are the one people notice last because they used to be automatic. Why is the Dunk Meter hard to time by hand?

Three reasons, and they stack.

• The window isn't fixed. Because the meter reads the contest, the green zone you learned on an open fast break isn't the one you get in traffic.
• You're timing it mid-animation. The dunk animation, the defender's rotation and the meter are all moving at once, and you're reading the meter while watching the rim.
• Fatigue changes it. Late in games your releases drift. That's true of jumpers and it's true of dunks, which is why Unlimited Stamina on Nets matters more than it sounds.

What does Meter Dunk on Nets do?

Meter Dunk is a single-button release. You start the dunk the way you normally would, and the script handles stopping the meter. It's a timed input, the same principle as Auto Green on standing shots: the Zen can't see the game, so the release is a measured figure against the live 2K27 build.

Here's what it doesn't do. It doesn't choose the dunk package, it doesn't make a body in the paint disappear, and it can't rescue a takeoff that was blocked before the meter mattered. If you drive into three defenders, you'll get the animation the game gives you. Meter Dunk makes the release the one part of that sequence you don't have to think about.

It ships with the rest of the Nets mod list: Auto Green, Auto Tempo, Button Green, Quick Stop off the touchpad, Unlimited Stamina, Turbo Fades, Auto Dribbles, Defense Assist, Lag Protection and 20+ mods in total. The mod-by-mod review goes through each one.

How do you set it up?

Same as every Nets mod. Checkout, redeem in the Discord bot with your order number, update firmware through the browser tool, then load the build. Our NBA 2K27 setup guide walks it end to end. Once you're in, test Meter Dunk in a MyCAREER or Play Now game before the Rec, because you want to see the release on an open lane before you judge it in traffic.

After a 2K gameplay patch the timing can drift until the retune ships. Retunes are included and announced in the 30,000-member Discord. 2K has said a bigger patch is coming before Season 2, so expect one.

Load the 2K27 build. 2K26 owners get it included, and the 2K26 build shouldn't be used on 2K27 anyway because the timing was measured against different animations.
