Fortnite Loot Hacks and Cronus Zen: Tune the New Pool
The v42.20 Loot Hack pool refreshed, but aim assist and recoil did not change. Here is what to tune and what to leave alone.
You dropped in after the update, picked up the gun you spent last week tuning, and the pull feels wrong. Or the weapon you built that profile around is not in your hackable lineup at all now. That is the Loot Hack pool rotating, not your script failing.
Fortnite v42.20 refreshed which items you can hack into your loot pool, and it left aim assist and weapon recoil alone. So leave your working values where they are. The only real job is adding profiles for the new shooters now in the pool, which is a twenty minute session in Creative rather than a full reset.

What changed in the v42.20 Loot Hack pool?
Epic refreshed the hackable lineup when v42.20 went live on September 17, 2026. Six items are now available to pull into your own pool using Sprite Dust. Four of them shoot, and two are utility you will never write a profile for.
| Item | Type | Needs a recoil profile? |
|---|---|---|
| Hyperburst Pistol | Pistol | Yes |
| Mammoth Pistol | Pistol | Yes |
| Deadeye DMR | Marksman | Yes |
| Reaper Sniper Rifle | Sniper | Barely |
| FlowBerry Fizz | Consumable | No |
| Rocket Ram | Mobility | No |
Epic also rolled out a fresh batch of Match Overrides with this update, including Recovery, Level Up, Dynamic Storm, Super Shot, Big Boom and Healing Overdrive. Two more, Suppressing Fire and Health Siphon, were scheduled to follow on September 24. Those change match rules rather than how your guns kick.
Did v42.20 change Fortnite aim assist or recoil?
No. Epic's v42.20 notes list no weapon balance pass and no aim assist adjustment. If your tracking feels different today, the cause is almost certainly which gun is in your hands.
This is the trap that catches people every patch. A loot pool rotation feels identical to a nerf from the player's seat, because the thing you are holding behaves differently than it did yesterday. The instinct is to tear down a setup that was never broken.
So resist the reset. Wiping values that were correct on Tuesday and rebuilding them from scratch costs you a week of inconsistency for no gain. Add to what you have instead.
Which new Loot Hack weapons actually need a Cronus Zen profile?
Three of the six, and they are not equally urgent. Work in this order and you will be done before your squad finishes complaining in the lobby.
- Deadeye DMR first. Marksman rifles punish a wrong vertical value harder than anything else, because every shot is a deliberate one and the error is visible immediately.
- Hyperburst Pistol second. Burst weapons stack their kick inside a single trigger pull, so a value tuned on full auto will overcorrect badly here.
- Mammoth Pistol third. Heavy pistols have real vertical climb but you fire them in short strings, so a rough value gets you most of the way.
- Reaper Sniper Rifle last, if at all. A bolt sniper fires one shot and re-aims, so anti-recoil has almost nothing to act on.
Tune each one on a static wall in Creative at mid range. Hold the longest string the weapon allows, watch where the pattern drifts, and adjust vertical until it sits flat. Do not do this in live matches, where you get one spray per fight and talk yourself into a bad number.
Our Fortnite Cronus Zen anti-recoil settings by weapon guide has the starting values and the order to change them in. Take the numbers there as a floor and climb, rather than starting heavy.

Why do Loot Hacks break fixed per-weapon profiles?
Because your loot pool is now partly a decision rather than a coin flip. Sprite Dust lets you hack specific weapons into your own pool mid-match, so two players in the same lobby can be running completely different kits by choice. A profile set built around what the floor loot used to give you no longer describes your games.
The practical consequence is that you should tune around what you actually hack for, not around the full pool. Pick the two or three weapons you reliably spend dust on and make those excellent. Everything else can sit on a generic value.
This is also why your Season 3 habits stopped transferring. The old model was that everyone converged on the same few meta guns, so one shared set of numbers worked for the whole lobby. Override broke that assumption on purpose.
How do you keep profiles straight for a rotating pool?
Memory slots are the answer, and you do not need a PC to move between them. The Cronus Zen lets you change slots remotely from the controller, which matters when the right profile depends on what you hacked into your pool that match.
On a PlayStation controller the documented combinations are PS plus Share and PS plus L3. On Xbox they are Xbox plus View and Xbox plus LS. Cronus documents both in its official Device panel guide, which is worth a bookmark.
Device Monitor is the other tool worth knowing. It shows live input and output data, CPU load, input display and memory slot control, which makes it the fastest way to confirm the slot you think is active really is. When a profile seems to do nothing, check there before you change a single value.
Match Overrides add one more variable on top of all this, since a rule change can alter how a weapon behaves in that specific match. We broke that down in Fortnite Match Overrides vs Cronus Zen anti-recoil.
Which Fortnite script handles a rotating loot pool?
Luna Elite is our Fortnite script, built for Chapter 7's aim system rather than carried over from an older chapter. It runs sticky aim assist, Beam anti-recoil, edit macros with three modes, a turbo pickup macro, rapid fire on R2, hair triggers and a pause menu. Binds and the Zen screen are customizable, and the on-screen menu means a mid-match retune does not send you looking for a laptop.
At time of writing it is $49.99, down from a $58.99 compare-at price. The product page shows 4.9 out of 5 from 903 customer reviews, and the store lists 4,000+ customers worldwide. It runs on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch, downloads instantly after purchase, and every future update is included.
The fair objection is that a loot pool rotating every few weeks means endless retuning, so why pay for a script at all. The honest answer is that the retuning is the same work whether you bought a script or wrote one, and the free updates mean each rotation costs you minutes rather than money. An on-device menu is what turns that from a chore into a habit.
Values move fastest in the first week after a pool refresh, and nobody lands them alone. Players post working Deadeye DMR and Hyperburst numbers in the 30,000-member ScarZens Discord, where per-weapon tuning threads and direct setup help live alongside the download.
If you split your time with Call of Duty, Laser Elite covers Black Ops 7 and Warzone with per-weapon anti-recoil and full auto weapon detection on PS5, also $49.99 at time of writing. Both sit in the full Cronus Zen scripts collection if you want to compare them. For the wider comparison, our guide to the best Fortnite Cronus Zen script covers what separates one from another.
Fortnite Loot Hacks and Cronus Zen FAQ
Did the v42.20 update break Cronus Zen scripts?
No. The update refreshed the hackable item lineup and added Match Overrides, neither of which touches how your controller talks to the console. If something feels off, check which weapon you were holding before assuming the patch caused it.
Do I need to retune every weapon in the new Loot Hack pool?
Only the ones you actually hack for. Three of the six new items are shooters, and the Reaper Sniper Rifle barely benefits from anti-recoil at all. Two or three well-tuned profiles beat six rough ones.
Why does my anti-recoil overcorrect on the Hyperburst Pistol?
Because burst fire delivers its kick inside one trigger pull rather than across a sustained spray. A value built for a full auto AR keeps pulling after the burst has already stopped, which drags your reticle below the target. Drop the vertical value substantially and build back up.
Can I hold separate Cronus Zen profiles for different loot pools?
Yes, and it is the cleanest way to work with a rotating pool. Keep distinct configurations on separate memory slots and switch between them from the controller using the documented combinations. That saves reprogramming every time your hacked kit changes.
How long should tuning the new pool take?
About twenty minutes in Creative for the Deadeye DMR and both pistols, then a few matches to confirm the values hold under pressure. Doing it once properly is faster than adjusting on the fly for a week.
