Cronus Zen Supported Mouse and Keyboard Devices

Most standard USB mice and keyboards work on the Cronus Zen, but wireless needs its dongle and Corsair boards need BIOS mode. Here is what works and how to wire it.

You bought a Zen so you could play console shooters on mouse and keyboard, plugged both in, and the Zen either ignored your keyboard or threw an error at you. Now you are wondering whether your gear is on some approved list you have never seen.

Short answer: the Cronus Zen reads most mice and keyboards that behave like standard USB devices, so your gear probably works even if it is not on Cronus's tested list. The three things that actually stop people are Bluetooth, which is not supported, Corsair keyboards that need BIOS mode, and devices in the wrong ports. Controller goes in A1, keyboard in A2, mouse in A3.

Which mice and keyboards does the Cronus Zen support?

Cronus publishes a tested device list, and what matters is understanding what it means. It records hardware confirmed working, including devices reported by users, rather than a closed set of what is allowed. If your mouse is missing, it most likely means nobody has submitted it yet.

The design target is the standard USB interface, so anything presenting itself normally over USB has a good chance of being read. Where it goes wrong is hardware needing its own driver to function. Plugging in a device the Zen cannot read is one way you end up staring at an E3 error code.

Here is a slice of that list to show the pattern.

Mouse Connection Max poll Max DPI
Logitech G Pro Ultralight USB 1000Hz 25,600
Logitech G502 Lightspeed USB 1000Hz 16,000
Razer Viper Ultimate USB 8000Hz 20,000
Razer DeathAdder Elite USB 1000Hz 16,000
Corsair IRONCLAW RGB Wireless dongle 1000Hz 18,000
Glorious Model O USB 1000Hz 12,000
SteelSeries Rival 600 USB 1000Hz 12,000

Nearly every tested mouse tops out at 1000Hz polling, with the Razer Viper Ultimate the one listed higher at 8000Hz. That ceiling is a property of what the Zen reads, not a flaw in your mouse. A 4000Hz mouse still works, it just will not feed the Zen at 4000Hz.

Which keyboards need extra setup on a Cronus Zen?

Keyboards are where most of the friction lives, and Corsair boards are the main reason. Much of the Corsair range has to be switched into BIOS mode before the Zen reads it properly. That covers the K30 through K60 family and the K65 up to the K100.

How you get into BIOS mode depends on the board.

  1. Boards with a Windows lock key. Hold the Windows lock key together with F1 for about five seconds, then let go.
  2. Boards without that key. Unplug the keyboard, hold S and B down, plug it back in, then release.
  3. K95 and K100 on current firmware. Unplug it, then hold B and S while you plug it back in.
  4. K70. Unplug it and hold ESC as you plug it back in.
  5. Boards with a rear switch. Some Corsair keyboards have a physical switch on the back that does this for you.

The Strafe is the irritating one, because it drops out of BIOS mode and needs setting again on every startup. Update your keyboard firmware before you fight any of this, since several Corsair models and the Logitech G915 and G Pro keyboard have firmware versions that simply do not get detected correctly.

Two more quirks are worth knowing. The Logitech G512 and G815 ship with two cables, and without an MK switch you want the one marked with the keyboard logo. The Redragon K5 and K6 ranges announce themselves as a mouse too, so they need adding to the ignore list or they will fight your actual mouse.

Which platforms support mouse and keyboard through a Cronus Zen?

Cronus lists mouse and keyboard support on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. There is one platform requirement that catches people out. On PlayStation 5 you need the Cronus Zen LINK Wi-Fi expansion module for mouse and keyboard to work at all.

That is a hardware purchase on top of the Zen itself, so budget for it before you plan a PS5 desk. Our walkthrough on Cronus Zen ZenLink PS5 setup covers getting the module paired and running. Every other listed platform takes the devices directly.

How do you wire a mouse and keyboard to the Zen?

Port order is not optional, and getting it wrong accounts for a lot of dead setups.

  • Controller into Zen USB port A1
  • Keyboard into Zen USB port A2
  • Mouse into Zen USB port A3
  • PROG cable from the Zen to your PC

Before you configure anything, cycle the right blue memory slot button until the OLED screen shows the Collective Minds alien logo, which tells you nothing is currently active. Then plug the devices in using the order above. Open the Device tab in Zen Studio and look under Connected Devices to confirm both appeared.

A question mark icon next to a device is normal and only means Zen Studio has no artwork for it. From there, open Device Monitor under TOOLS and test the inputs. Moving the mouse should change the RX and RY values, and pressing W, A, S or D should change LX and LY.

That readout proves the Zen is turning your mouse into right stick movement and your keys into left stick movement. One thing to plan for is that the keyboard and mouse stop driving your PC once they are feeding the Zen. Keep a second set on the desk, or use a powered MK switch to flip between them.

If your device shows up in Zen Studio but behaves strangely in game, the fastest fix is usually someone with the same hardware. The ScarZens Discord has 30,000 members and admins who read mouse and keyboard setups daily. If the device never appears at all, work through our checklist for Cronus Zen mouse and keyboard problems first.

Do polling rate and DPI settings change anything?

Yes, in a couple of specific ways that are easy to miss. Wireless mice on the tested list work through the USB dongle that came with them, and Bluetooth is not a supported path for them. If you lost the dongle, that mouse is a wired mouse now.

Sensor behavior matters more than the headline DPI number. Mice built on the PMW3360 sensor can show smoothing once you push past 2000 DPI, so if your aim feels like it is gliding rather than tracking, drop the DPI and test again. Lower and steadier beats high and smoothed.

Side buttons are the other gap. Several Logitech and Razer mice need their extra buttons bound to keyboard keys inside G Hub or Razer Mouse Utility before the Zen sees them as anything. The Razer Naga Trinity only gives you its two button configuration unless you bind the rest in Synapse 3, and the DeathAdder Elite and Essential carry no onboard profile memory at all.

Which script should you run on mouse and keyboard?

The script sits on the Zen rather than on your controller, so a mouse and keyboard setup runs the same build everyone else runs. What changes is which game you are tuning for.

Laser Elite is the Call of Duty build, tuned for Black Ops 7 and Warzone and usable across most other FPS titles. Its product page lists aim assist boosting mods, per weapon anti-recoil with adjustable values, full auto weapon detection and movement mods. It is $49.99 at time of writing, down from a $58.99 compare-at price, and it runs on PS5, Xbox and PC.

Luna Elite covers Fortnite Chapter 7 with sticky aim boosters, Silent Aim, anti-recoil for AR and SMG sprays, a three mode edit macro, rapid fire, pickup and crouch macros and hair triggers. It also carries an on screen menu on the Zen itself, which counts for more on a desk where you are not holding a pad. Same $49.99 at time of writing, listed for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch.

The fair objection is that full auto weapon detection on Laser Elite is listed for PS5 controllers, with a manual gun picker on Xbox. On Xbox you select the weapon yourself rather than having it read for you, so know that going in.

Laser Elite's product page currently shows 4.9 out of 5 from 625 reviews, Luna Elite shows 4.9 from 903, and the store lists 4,000 or more customers worldwide. Both sit in the full ScarZens script collection if you want them side by side. Cronus Zen mouse and keyboard FAQ

Does my mouse need to be on the Cronus Zen supported list?

No. The list records devices confirmed working, not a set of approved hardware. Most mice that present as a standard USB device get read fine, and an absence from the list usually just means nobody has tested and reported it.

Can I use a Bluetooth mouse with a Cronus Zen?

No. Wireless mice on the tested list work through the USB dongle supplied with the mouse, and Bluetooth is not a supported connection for them. Plug the dongle into the mouse port and treat it as a wired device.

Why does my Corsair keyboard not show up in Zen Studio?

Almost always because it is not in BIOS mode. Most of the Corsair range has to be switched over before the Zen reads it properly, and the Strafe needs it done again at every startup. Update the keyboard firmware too, since some versions do not get detected correctly.

Do I need the ZenLink module for mouse and keyboard?

On PlayStation 5, yes. Cronus lists the LINK Wi-Fi expansion module as a requirement for mouse and keyboard on PS5. Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch do not need it.

Can I keep using my mouse on my PC at the same time?

Not without extra hardware. Once plugged into the Zen, the keyboard and mouse act as a controller and stop driving the PC. A powered MK switch flips both back and forth, cheaper than buying a second set.

The short version

Check the ports before you check the compatibility list, because A1, A2 and A3 solve more of these than hardware ever does. Wireless means dongle, Corsair means BIOS mode, and PS5 means the LINK module. The official Cronus tested device list is worth a look before you buy new gear.
