BO7 Season 5 Reloaded: Cronus Zen Anti-Recoil Fix
Season 5 Reloaded retuned FG42, Swordfish and Mammoth recoil on August 20. Here is how to re-dial your Cronus Zen anti-recoil values without rebuilding your whole profile.
Your anti-recoil values were dialed in last week. Now the FG42 climbs off target, the Swordfish burst throws your second shot wide, and the Mammoth feels like a different gun. Nothing is broken on your Zen. Treyarch changed the guns underneath you.
Short answer: the Season 05 Reloaded update landed on August 20, 2026, and it retuned recoil, ADS speed and burst timing on several Black Ops 7 weapons. Per-weapon anti-recoil values are matched to a specific recoil curve, so when that curve changes, your saved numbers overcorrect or undercorrect. You do not need to rebuild your profile. You need to re-dial the three or four guns the patch actually touched.
If you would rather skip the manual work, the Laser Elite COD Cronus Zen Script ships per-weapon anti-recoil values that get retuned and reissued after balance patches like this one.
What changed in BO7 Season 05 Reloaded?
Season 05 Reloaded arrived as Black Ops 7 update 2.04 and Warzone update 1.105 on August 20, 2026. Treyarch described the tuning pass as reining in recent weapons and attachments that had pushed past their target powerband. Three changes matter directly to anyone running anti-recoil.
| Weapon | What was adjusted | Effect on your values |
|---|---|---|
| FG42 | Recoil increased, range reduced, ADS time 290ms to 300ms, slide-to-fire 450ms to 460ms, new 15% ADS firing movement penalty | Old values now undercorrect. Vertical creeps up on longer sprays. |
| Swordfish A1 | Burst fire delay 280ms to 300ms. Penta Burst Mod recoil increased, first shot recoil especially, burst delay improvement cut from 20% to 10% | Timing-based compensation lands in the wrong window. First shot kicks harder. |
| Mammoth | Base damage reduced, more reliance on hit location, handling and mobility adjusted | Recoil pattern is close to intact, but the ADS and mobility changes shift when your compensation starts. |
Everything above is from the published Season 05 Reloaded notes and was accurate as of August 22, 2026. Treyarch said Mammoth tuning stays under review, so expect another pass before the season ends.
Why does a balance patch break Cronus Zen anti-recoil?
Anti-recoil on the Zen is a counter-input. While you hold the trigger, the script feeds a small, constant stick value in the opposite direction to the gun's kick. That value is only correct if it matches the recoil curve it was measured against.
Raise a weapon's recoil and your old counter-input is now too small. The gun climbs. Lower it and the counter-input is too big, which is the classic symptom of shots dragging below the target on a sustained spray. Neither is a Zen fault. It is arithmetic.
ADS time changes cause a subtler problem. Scripts that gate compensation to the moment you finish aiming are working off a fixed delay. Push ADS from 290ms to 300ms and the compensation starts fractionally early, which shows up as the first two rounds pulling low before the spray settles. Ten milliseconds sounds trivial. On a weapon you fire fifty times a match, it is not.
How to retune your values without rebuilding the profile
Do this in the firing range, not in a match. You want a static target and no pressure.
- Change one weapon at a time. Load the affected gun with the exact attachments you actually run. Attachment changes move recoil as much as patches do.
- Fire a full magazine at a wall from roughly thirty meters with your current values still active. Watch where the pattern ends up relative to your aim point.
- Read the drift. Pattern rising means increase vertical anti-recoil. Pattern sinking means decrease it. Pattern pulling sideways means your horizontal value needs the same treatment.
- Adjust in small steps. Move by one or two units, not five. Large jumps mean you overshoot and then chase the correction in the other direction.
- Retest at your real engagement range. A value that holds a laser at thirty meters can still be wrong at sixty, because recoil compounds over the burst length you actually use.
- Save, then play three matches before touching anything else. Range shooting and real gunfights are different problems.
If your values were already inconsistent before the patch, the patch is not your issue. Work through our Cronus Zen anti-recoil settings guide for BO7 and Warzone first and get a stable baseline, then apply the retune above on top of it.

Which weapons should you check first?
Start with the FG42. It took the largest recoil increase in the pass and it is the one most likely to feel wrong immediately.
The Swordfish A1 is second, and it needs a different approach. Burst weapons are not compensated the same way as full auto. The delay between bursts moved by 20ms and the Penta Burst Mod now improves that delay by 10% instead of 20%, so if you run that mod your effective cadence changed twice over. Test the base weapon and the Penta build separately.
The Mammoth is third. Its recoil pattern survived mostly intact, so if your values feel close, leave them. The damage and hit-location changes affect how many rounds you need on target, not how the gun kicks.
Weapons untouched by the pass do not need attention. Resist the urge to re-dial the whole profile because two guns feel off.
What about aim assist and weapon detection after the patch?
Aim assist boosting mods are not tied to individual weapon stats, so a balance pass usually leaves them alone. If your aim assist genuinely changed behavior, the cause is more often a script that failed to load cleanly or in-game sensitivity settings that reset.
Weapon detection is the one to watch. Scripts that auto-switch anti-recoil profiles identify the equipped weapon, and new or reworked weapons can arrive before a script's detection table knows about them. If your Zen is applying the wrong profile after Reloaded, our guide on weapon detection not working in BO7 walks through the checks.

Is hand-tuning worth it, or should you buy a script?
Hand-tuning is free and it teaches you what the values actually do. The cost is time. A proper retune across a handful of weapons is a couple of hours in the range, and you repeat it every balance pass, which for Black Ops 7 has been roughly every few weeks.
Laser Elite exists for people who would rather not do that. Per its product page it runs per-weapon anti-recoil with adjustable values across BO7 and Warzone loadouts, tunable aim assist boosting, full auto weapon detection for BO7 on PS5 controllers, and movement mods. It works on PS5, Xbox and PC, and it is $49.99 at time of writing, down from $58.99. Updates after game patches are included, which is the part that matters in a season like this one.
You can also compare it against the rest of the range on the all Cronus Zen scripts page if you play more than one title.
One thing we will not tell you is that any of this is risk-free. Activision's terms prohibit third-party hardware and software that automates gameplay input, enforcement does happen, and no script changes that. Anyone promising you an undetectable or unbannable setup is selling you something they cannot deliver. Go in knowing the tradeoff.
FAQ
Do I need to reinstall my script after Season 05 Reloaded?
Not usually. A balance patch changes weapon stats, not the Zen's ability to run a script. Reinstall only if the script fails to load or your Zen stops responding, which points to a firmware or Zen Studio problem rather than a game patch.
Why do my shots pull down instead of up now?
That is overcorrection. Your anti-recoil value is larger than the weapon's current kick, so the counter-input wins. It happens when a gun gets a recoil reduction, or when you copied values from a build with a different attachment set. Lower the vertical value in small steps until the pattern sits flat.
Does the FG42 ADS change really matter for anti-recoil?
It matters if your script starts compensation after a fixed ADS delay. The ten millisecond increase means compensation now begins slightly before the weapon is fully aimed, which usually shows as the first rounds dropping low. Extending the delay by the same amount fixes it.
Will these values still work when Season 06 arrives?
Assume they will not. Every season launch and mid-season update has shifted at least some weapon handling in Black Ops 7. Treat any published value set, including ours, as a starting point tied to a specific patch rather than a permanent answer.
Does this apply to Warzone as well as multiplayer?
The weapon tuning shipped in the same update across both, but recoil behaves differently in Warzone because of longer engagement ranges and different attachment availability. Keep separate values for each mode rather than sharing one profile.
